The Eastman Dental Institute at University College London is the largest postgraduate dental academic centre in Europe.

The faculty is internationally-renowned and undertakes cutting edge fundamental, clinical and translational research on biomaterials and tissue engineering, and on microbial diseases, as well as providing specialist clinical care.

Materials research in the EDI is wide ranging and broadly within the themes of Materials Engineering and Biomaterials. Studies encompass, for example, analysis of the properties of implant materials, investigation of the response of tissues to natural and synthetic biomaterials and the development of new materials.
